children but one were born in their grandfather's house because the home of William Henry and Harriet was struck by lightning and burned to the ground only a few months after they moved there. Following the fire they lived with the parents of William Henry.

1 Harry's obituary appeared in the Miami Union, 21 Sep 1911:
WINANS, HARRY D. - Harry D. Winans, 42, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Cory Winans, of Toledo and Troy, was found dead in his room in a hotel at Pittsburg, last Thursday [14 Sep 1911]. Death was due to heart failure. He leaves one son. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Winans home on McKaig avenue, Troy with Rev. D. S. Ferguson officiating. Many friends were present to pay a last tribute to one they loved and as an expression of the deep sympathy they felt for the bereaved father and mother. Interment was made at Riverside.

2 Barbara (Longmire) Zelko, who is credited by Mrs. Egy with much of the information on this line, died 19 July 1991 in Orange county, according to the California Death Index.
