1 Mrs. Egy probably errs in attributing a 1699 birthdate and 73 year life span to this Samuel. The inscription on his grave marker says he died 1772 "in the LXIII Year of his Age". In Winans Family Genealogy and History, page 53, O. C. Winans assigns a birth year of "about 1710" to him and comments "order of birth unknown" for Samuel and Zerviah's nine children.
