    The family of Stanley Winans Eider all died in a drowning accident on 31 May 1970. Their car plunged off of the Freeway into the Columbia River between Biggs Junction and The Dalles, Ore as they were coming back from a fishing trip in eastern Oregon.

Frances was a graduate of Northfield School in Mass, and was a school teacher of Domestic Arts and Science and also an Assistant on the "Prudence Penny" column. Both were very active in the Episcopal Church until Frances' passing and at that time they were the "Couple longest in residence at the Episcopal Home" in Alhambra, Calif. There were no children.
