Wikipedians in our Family

"Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia", was launched in 2001 by Jimbo Wales. It now includes more than five million pages which describe and document many different subjects. I use Wikipedia from time to time for various kinds of research and have noticed that a few of the people to whom I am related happen to have their own pages, or are mentioned in pages on other subjects. I will list them here and will update this page whenever I discover more...

Their own pages. The following family members have their very own pages in Wikipedia:
- Poet Colin Cheney, my cousin Marilyn's son, Read Colin's Wiki-article.
- Ian Cheney, Colin's brother, who is a film producer and director, and was a co-founder of the FoodCorps non-profit organization. Read Ian's article.
- Walter Johnson, my father's second cousin, who is in Baseball's Hall of Fame. Read Walter's article.
- Cornelis Melyn, my 8th great grandfather, whose Wiki-article describes him as "an early Dutch settler in New Netherland and Patroon of Staten Island."
Mentions. The following persons are mentioned in pages on other subjects:
- Chuck Carey. Your Carey chronicler and his Walter Johnson article are mentioned in a list of sources at the bottom of the 1946 in Baseball Wiki-article.
- Our granddaughter, Sarah Ann Carey, was a member of the Pump Girls vocal group and is mentioned in their Wikipedia article.
- Walter Johnson's grandson, Henry Thomas, is credited in Walter's Wikipedia article with being the author of Walter's biography. We've included one of Hank's articles in this family album, as well as another article which I co-authored with Hank.
- My uncle, Bill Walker, was an author and newspaper photographer, and is mentioned in the article on Barbara Graham.
Plumb Tools. Although my uncle Fayette R. Plumb II doesn't have his own Wiki-article, there is an all-too-brief article about the tool company which once bore his name, and which was founded by his family.
Winans. There are numerous Winans family members listed in the pages of this family album. To see a few, go to our Table of Contents.
