George Carey-Michael Miller 1850 Deed

In May 1850, George and Rebecca Carey sold their Staunton township property to Michael Miller. They were enumerated in Staunton in July, perhaps on a different piece of land. This deed was transcribed by cousin Kelly Conrad:

Quit Claim, George & Rebecca (Winans) Carey [of Miami County Ohio] [Grantors] to Michael Miller [of Miami County Ohio] [Grantee]; an unspecified interest in the North side of NW4, Sec. 14, T. 1, R. 11 [Staunton Twp.]; consideration $ 200

Instrument Title Text: "George Carey To, Michael Miller"

Know all men by these presents that we George Carey [sic] and Rebecca Carey Wife of the said George Carey in Consideration of the Sum of Two Hundred Dollars in hand paid by Michael Miller do hereby remise release and forever quit Claim Unto the said Michael Miller his heirs and afsigns forever all our title interest and estate legal and Equitable in the following premises with the appurtenances situate in the County of Miami and State of Ohio and bounded and described as follows being a part of the North west quarter of Section fourteen (14) in Town one (1) And Range Eleven (11) Being Fifty acres on the North side of Said quarter In testimony whereof We have hereto Set our hands And Seals this 29th day of May A.D. 1850.

The State of Ohio Miami County Ss. Before me William Hart a Justice of the Peace in and for said County personally appeared George Carey and Rebecca Carey Wife of the said George Carey and acknowledged the Signing and Sealing of the above Conveyance to be their Voluntary act and deed And the said Rebecca Carey wife of the Said George Carey being at the same time examined by me Separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of said instrument being made known to her by me then declared that she did Voluntarily Sign Seal and acknowledge the same and that she is still satisfied therewith this 29th day of May A.D. 1850 William Hart JP
