This Indenture made this third day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty seven Between Thomas Cary [sic] and Mehetable his wife of the County of Miami and State of Ohio of the first part and David Cary [sic] of the county and State aforesaid of the second part Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the Sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand well and truly paid by the said partypartyof the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold aliened released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien release convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns for ever [sic] all of that certain tract of land in the county of Miami and State aforesaid ^ situate ^ and being a part of the North west quarter of section number fourteen of township one and range eleven, beginning at the North west corner of Said quarter Section and running thence East one hundred and sixty poles to a stake thence south fifty poles to a stake thence west one hundred and sixty poles to a stake thence North fifty poles to the place of Beginning containing fifty acres be the same more or less and all the estate right title claims [sic] interest and demand whatsoever of him the said party of the first part either in law of equity of in and to the totosaid premises and every part thereof together with all and singular the privileges and appurtenances in any wise belonging or in any wise appertaining thereunto and the rents issues and profits thereof To have and to hold the premises hereby bargained and sold or meant or intended so to be with the appurtenances to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns and the said Thomas Carry [sic] and Mehetable his wife for themselves their heirs executors administrators do promise and agree and covenant to and with the said party of the second part his heirs executors administrators that they are the true and lawfull [sic] owners of the premises hereby granted and have good right and full power and lawfull [sic] authority to sell and convey the same in manner aforesaid and further that the said party of the first part his heirs executors and administrators will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid premises with their appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns against all lawfull [sic] claims or demands of all persons in Witness whereof the said party [sic] of the first part has hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year first above written

In his note which accompanies this transcription, Kelly describes it as an altered and abbreviated stand-in for the actual document, which is still being worked on.
